LocalDraft AI runs the AI on your own computer, so the main factor is how much memory (RAM) you have. Everything else is modest.

Which AI model you get
The app picks one AI model automatically based on your RAM, so you never have to choose:
- 8 GB RAM or more → a larger, higher-quality model (~2.3 GB download) for the best drafts.
- Under 8 GB RAM → a lighter model (~1.1 GB download) that runs comfortably on 4 GB.
No graphics card needed
The AI runs on your processor (CPU). A dedicated GPU is not required. Machines with a modern CPU that supports AVX2 will generate drafts noticeably faster.More RAM means faster generation and a higher-quality model. If you're buying a machine for this, 8 GB+ is the sweet spot.
