Installers & activation codes
How to download the right installer, set it up, and activate your subscription. Your license is an activation code that locks to your computer when you sign in.
1. Download the installer
Get the installer for your operating system from the download page. Each installer bundles the app, the offline AI engine and a starter model, so you can begin drafting right after installing.
| Operating system | File you'll get | How to run it |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) | LocalDraft AI_x.y.z_x64-setup.exe | Double-click and follow the prompts. Installs per-user — no admin rights needed. |
| macOS | .dmg | Open the disk image and drag LocalDraft AI to Applications. |
| Linux | .AppImage / .deb | Make the AppImage executable and run it, or install the .deb with your package manager. |
2. Install and open the app
Run the installer and launch LocalDraft AI. On first run the app sets up its offline AI. Read system requirements first if you're not sure your PC is a fit — the main factor is how much RAM you have.
3. Activate your subscription
Activation is done by signing in with your account — not by pasting a code. When you sign in, the store verifies who you are, counts this computer against your plan's device seats, and hands the app a license that is locked to this device.
- Open the app and click “Log in with your account”A browser window opens on our website.
- Sign in (or create a free account)Use the same email you subscribed with. New accounts start a free trial instantly.
- Verify your email if askedTo reveal a paid license we send a 6-digit code to your email — enter it to confirm the address is yours. Google sign-ins are already verified.
- Done — Pro unlocks on this computerThe app activates automatically and works fully offline from here on.
Your license key
After activating you'll also see a long license key on your account page (and in your purchase email). Think of it as your proof of subscription — keep it safe and quote it when you contact support. It is not what activates the app (signing in does that).
The advanced “device-locked key” field inside the app is only for keys we issue to a specific computer for firms and offline setups. Personal subscriptions activate by signing in.
Activate on a second computer
Each plan includes device seats — Pro covers 1 computer, Firm covers 5.
- Pro (1 seat): signing in on a new computer moves your seat to it — the previous computer is signed out automatically the next time it's online.
- Firm (5 seats): sign in on up to five computers. A sixth is refused until you free a seat.
- Got a new PC and stuck? Log out on the old one, or ask us to reset your devices — see Subscriptions & billing.
What the installer includes
- The LocalDraft AI desktop app.
- The offline AI engine (runs the model on your CPU — no cloud).
- A starter AI model, and the built-in drafting library of professional court drafts.
- On Windows, the required Visual C++ runtime files are included, so you don't need to install anything else. If the AI fails to start, see Troubleshooting.
